KNUST Entry Requirements — 2026/2027

For WASSCE / SSSCE Applicants

To qualify for any undergraduate programme at KNUST, you must have:

  • Credit passes (A1–C6 for WASSCE / A–D for SSSCE) in THREE Core Subjects:
    • English Language
    • Mathematics
    • Integrated Science
  • Credit passes in THREE relevant Elective Subjects
  • An overall aggregate of 24 or better
  • Note: D7, E8, and F9 grades are NOT accepted for admission purposes

For A-Level / ABCE / GBCE Applicants

  • Credit passes in at least SIX subjects at GBCE level including English Language and Business Mathematics
  • Credit passes in THREE relevant subjects at ABCE/A-Level

For Mature Applicants

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must pass a KNUST Mature Applicants Entrance Examination

Important: Meeting the minimum requirements of aggregate 24 does NOT guarantee admission into competitive programmes like Medicine, Engineering, or Law. These programmes have higher cut-off points. Use Uni-Suggest to check your actual cut-off for each specific programme.

Q: Can I apply if I am an awaiting WASSCE candidate?
Yes. KNUST accepts applications from 2026 WASSCE candidates who are awaiting results. The portal stays open until results are released.

Q: Can I change my programme after applying?
Yes. You can edit your application and resubmit before the deadline closes. After the deadline, no changes are possible.

Q: When will the admission list be released?
The list is released in batches. Part of the list is typically out around the time the first semester starts — October 13, 2026. Keep checking the portal.

Q: What is the minimum aggregate to get into KNUST?
The general minimum is aggregate 24. However, highly competitive courses like Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, and Pharmacy require much lower aggregates (e.g., aggregate 6–12). Use Uni-Suggest to see the exact cut-off for your programme.

Q: How do international students apply?
