Nursing Training Entry Requirements — 2026/2027
General Nursing Programme (Diploma)
- Credit passes (A1–C6 WASSCE) in FIVE subjects including English Language
- Must include at least one of: Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Health Science
- Overall aggregate of 36 (WASSCE) / 24 (SSSCE) or better
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application
- Passes must be obtained at not more than 2 sittings
Midwifery Programme (Diploma)
- Same academic requirements as General Nursing
- Must be a female applicant for most institutions
- Some institutions require completion of a General Nursing programme first
Community Health Nursing (CHN)
- Credit passes in English Language and at least two science subjects
- Aggregate 36 (WASSCE) or better
Post-Basic / Post-Registration Programmes
- Must be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a Diploma or State Registered Nurses Certificate
- Must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMCG)
- Minimum of 2–3 years post-registration work experience required depending on the programme
