UEW is Ghana's foremost teacher education university, offering Full-Time, Sandwich, and Distance Learning programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate students. UEW Entry Requirements — 2026/2027

For WASSCE / SSSCE Applicants

  • Credit passes (A1–C6 for WASSCE / A–D for SSSCE) in THREE Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies
  • Credit passes in THREE relevant Elective Subjects for the chosen programme
  • Overall aggregate of 24 or better
  • Certificates from non-WAEC bodies must be evaluated by GTEC before applying

For Direct / Post-Diploma Applicants

  • Holders of recognised diplomas from accredited institutions may apply for direct entry at Level 200 or 300
  • A Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.5 or better is typically required

For Mature Applicants

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Must pass UEW's Mature Applicants Entrance Examination

UEW Hostel Fees — 2026/2027

UEW's main campus is in Winneba, a coastal town about 65km from Accra. On-campus accommodation is available and generally affordable, ranging from approximately GH¢2,000 to GH¢4,000 per academic year. Off-campus private hostels in Winneba cost between GH¢3,000 and GH¢6,000+ per year. Students at the Kumasi campus should check with AAMUSTED's accommodation office for their specific fees.
